Trip to Huntington Beach June - Third Day

When I got up at my customary 5:00 am, I found Galen already up and dressed.  It seemed that the girls were awake and more or less rampaging around 4:00 and so he was posted on sentry duty to at least keep them in one room!  This appeared to be working and things were calm.  Eventually they began to wake up as breakfast preparations began:  chocolate chip pancakes with mounds of whipped cream.  Marilyn will be glad to know that I passed on these and had a bowl of cereal.  Sadly that was the last healthy food I had that day till a late salad around 7:30.

Galen and I left the house with Thomas and two friends, Max and Griffen, to spend the day at Soak City, a water park which is part of Knott's Berry Farm.  It was a cool morning even those ten miles inland until the fog dissipated around 1:00, shortly before we left.  The boys had a good time and I got to take a few little naps while lounging around the wave pool.  When we entered the park, I noticed a staff member engaging in some strange behavior shown in this video.  it turns out this is the life guard routine to insure that every inch of the water features is covered by observers from different angles constantly.  Clearly just moving your eyes is not enough; full head movement is required.  Anyway, the boys had a great time.  Here is a link to video of them on Lazy River.

When we returned home, we found the makeover is full swing with Barrie, the nail artist, working on each of the girls.  You can see that Maggie--along with others--got a full treatment including stars and whatnot placed on the nails.

Then it was time for birthday cake, actually two cakes.  One was an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen (Thomas) and the other was an oreole cookie cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory.  It was a bit of a trick getting all the candles lit at the same time and this resulted in a very quick happy birthday song.  Take a look at the video of the quick Happy Birthday song.Everyone ate their fill and more.  The final guest left around five and the rest of us generally collapsed.  A bit of salad and then to bed looking forward to a bike ride with Galen and Maggie (on the tandem) tomorrow morning and afternoon.

Take a look at the updated photo album.
